Weed killer

abril 4, 2013
This is truly amazing stuff. It does exactly what it should do but without harming the garden or the animals.

The picture is not very clear but this is the next morning after spraying the weeds.

1/2 pint red wine vinegar (I am sure any vinegar would do)
1 tablespoon salt
1 table spoon washing up liquid

Mix all ingredients together making sure the salt has dissolved.
Place into a spray bottle and use.

This is so simple yet effective...I should bottle it and sell it!

Grapefruit, cinamon and clove air freshner

marzo 16, 2013

Tried this one today and it filled the house with a lovely smell. We had visitors and they all gave positive comments about it too. It is so easy when the wood burner is lit just to keep topping it up. The smell circulates around the house and fills the air with natural fragrance that doesn't make me sneeze!

1 pint of water
1 grapefruit sliced
1 cinamon stick broken up
4 cloves

Put all the ingredients into a pan and bring to the boil. Simmer as long as you want. Just keep an eye on the water leve ...

Sage and Onion stuffing

marzo 9, 2013

I started to make this when I lived in England as I couldn't eat the boxed stuff anymore with my allergies. I guess over time I have refined the recipe and now I want to share this stuffing with all of you. It is so easy to make and so much better than the stuff you buy in the box.

1 large onion diced.
Half a loaf of stale bread (made into breadcrumbs)
1 teaspoon dried mixed herbs
1 teaspoon dried sage
Pinch of salt to taste.
1 large egg
Olive oil

Put the olive oil and onions ...

Beetroot and carob cake

febrero 17, 2013
If you follow our day to day and gardening blogs you will know how much we love beetroot. It grows really well here, we have a constant supply all year round without having to store it. We have eaten it raw, roasted (which we both love) and now in a cake. My sister-in-law liked it and one of our spanish friends asked me to cook him one, so it must be good. As a bonus it contains no fat but it is very moreish.

200 g sugar...white or brown
4 large eggs (separated)
200g raw beetroot, gra...

Beetroot tarte tatin

enero 26, 2013
This recipe was again inspired by the Hugh Fearnely cook book all about vegetables. We tried it just because we had beetroot growing in the garden. We were impressed because it is lovely (if you like beetroot!). Just another way to use this vegetable other than pickled!

Rough puff pastry
2 table spoons olive oil
2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
2 teaspoons soft brown sugar
300 to 400g beetroot peeled and sliced if big (baby beets just scrub and halve)
Salt and pepper to taste.

Preheat t...

About us...

The reason that I have decided to add this page is because people that look at this website will see photos of all the delicious food we eat here. I cook a mixture of Spanish and English and the recipes on this page will hopefully reflect this. As I am allergic to cows milk everything dairy is made from goats or sheeps milk. I am also allergic to shop bought eggs but funnily enough I can eat the eggs our hens produce. (Must be the food we give them). Anyway all the recipes on here can be changed to accommodate most other allergies too, just change the ingredients to suit yourself. I hope that those of you who like cooking will try a few recipes and let us know how you got on by contacting us on
